Marama

Learning Site

Welcome to Marama Habitat! We are located in Ormiston Junior College for the whole of 2019. Marama means 'moon' in te reo Māori, the native New Zealand language. The Moon is reflected throughout our learning habitat, with the name of our learning spaces being named after Moon-related things (Buzz, NASA, Ground Control, and Apollo).

This habitat learning site is linked directly to all our learning in Marama. Click on any of the links to see what we are learning at the moment.

Meet the Team!

Hello learners, parents and Whanau!

I am very excited to be working with learners in year 5/6 at Ormiston Primary School for the 3 year in a row! Although I enjoy working with students of all ages, for the majority of my 9 years of teaching, I have specialised in working with children in years 4 - 6. There's never a dull day in upper primary!

Before I arrived at OrmPS, I worked for 6 years in Manchester, England, at 2 different single-celled primary schools. However, after working in the U.K., I can safely say New Zealand is an absolute adventure and I am very glad I moved here in 2017.

I can't wait to see where this year takes us. Let's start our 4C learning together!

Kia ora, Namaste, Bula Vinaka!

Having spent a year already at Ormiston Primary, it is extremely exciting to be working with the Year 5/6 learners this year. Although, before becoming a part of Ormiston Primary, my teaching career has been around high school and intermediate levels, I'm enjoying every moment with this upper primary cohort!

Here, in Marama, it's all about growing greatness through connectedness, capabilities, curiosities and collaboration, and TOGETHER, we shall take it to greater heights!

I was born on the majestic slopes of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to a Māori/Pākehā father and a Tanzanian mother. I did most of my schooling in Aotearoa and am currently working on improving my reo. My two young son's attend kōhanga reo so we are working together to become fluent speakers of our beautiful reo.

I am very excited to be joining Marama habitat this term and getting to know everyone and join in the adventure.
