Reading
We are focusing on narratives for reading and writing this term. They typically include characters, a setting, and a plot (beginning, middle, and end) and can be fictional (novels, films) or non-fictional (biographies, news reports, personal accounts).
Your tamariki can read their class books to you (found on our website) or choose something they enjoy from home or the library.
Writing/Spelling
Term 2 Spelling Rules - Practise reading and writing these words or create some of your own!
These are the spelling rules we learned in term 1. See if you can come up with some more words. You can also add prefixes and suffixes
eg rethought, unneighbourly.
Maths
We have been learning to tell the time, use 24hour time and calculate time related word problems. Ask your children to tell you the time if you have an analogue clock at home and to solve problems like;
- how long until we leave
- how long will it take to get to ...
- how many hours is the movie (converting minutes to hours)
- reading timetables if you are catching a bus or a plane
We are learning to multiply large numbers. Watch the video to remind yourself how to do this, then have a go at some problems!
