What a fabulous day we had at our Cross Country!
This event showcased our Ormond School values of confidence, perseverance, and resilience. It was wonderful to see our learners give it their all.
Another highlight was the tuakana-teina relationship that our seniors have with our juniors - so many of them were running along in support of our younger friends.
It was neat to see so many of our whanau there supporting our learners too!
We entered 4 teams in this tournament - a boys team, a girls team and two mixed teams. All teams played hard and played fair - ka pai to mahi team Rimu! Thank you to Mrs Langford for the great action shots!
A really great first game effort from our Ormond team. They never gave up, even though the scoreline was against them and scored 5 tries in the second half, eventually going down 75-25 to a very quick Sonrise team. Tino pai Ormond!
This week our learning focus has been on ANZAC Day - why it is important to remember the past and those who have gone before us. We talked about family members that fought in WWI, those that lost their lives, bravery, sacrifice, horrible conditions and the terrible things that they went through.
We were very lucky to have a virtual tour of the Gallipoli Exhibition at Te Papa. This opportunity gave us lots of new knowledge, discussions and questions, which we emailed to Scott who was our tour guide.
Our School held an ANZAC Memorial Assembly, where we raised the New Zealand flag, put up crosses and poppies and read the Roll of Honour for the fallen from our Ormond community. We also made and shared ANZAC biscuits.

Great throw!
We had a lot of fun creating our Straw Hoop Gliders using the Learn, Create, Share Model. The best part was flying them!
We all wore our Gumboots to school on Friday the 5th of April and had a sausage sizzle and juicy day to raise money for child mental health.
An amazing effort by all of our triathletes, there was nothing left in the tank by the end of the day! Our Year 4 boys team came 3rd, Year 5 girls team also came 3rd, Year 5 boys team came 2nd and Elijah was 1st for the Year 5 boys individual race. Ka mau te wehi! Thanks Mrs Langford for the fabulous action shots!

We wanted to support the victims of the terrible tragedy in Christchurch, so we had an Odd Sock Day and brought a gold coin donation. The significance of the odd socks is that no two people are the same, but we all have the right to peace and acceptance regardless of our race, religion and creed.
So proud of these guys! They gave it their all in every event. Ormond School came 8th out of 12 schools overall. Congratulations to Elijah who was 2nd overall for Year 5 boys.
