Mr. Blessman

Hi everyone, I am Mr. Blessman! I am very excited to teach 7th grade Social Studies this year! This is my 6th year of teaching Social Studies but my 1st year at Orion. I graduated from St. Ambrose University in 2020 with degrees in American History, World History, & ESL Education. I spent my first five years teaching Social Studies at Kewanee Central, coaching Chess, running Student Council, & our D.C. program. 

 This past summer I got married to my amazing wife Cassie and we have two awesome cats! I am a huge Star Wars nerd and love video games which is why I can't wait to start coaching high school E-Sports. Also a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Cubs! 

In my class this year students will have a fully online textbook and students can access most of their work through Discovery Education or through our Google Classroom. My class will focus on a wide variety of topics ranging from History, Government, Geography, & Current Events. We will dive into multiple topics such as the Renaissance, Age of Exploration, Colonization, American Independence, the Birth of our Nation, Westward Expansion, the Civil War, & many more! This year students will also take the Constitution Test in my room which all students need to complete to move on to high school. Can't wait to start!
