The 4th graders were given a bag with spaghetti and marshmallow and challenged to build the tallest tower possible. There were some very creative strategies and tons of awesome team work happening during this end of year challenge.
Students wrote diary entries from the point of view of a character living during the gold rush. The stories ranged from men, women and children traveling across the country, local Californians setting up shops to sell to the miners, to outlaws looking to rob their way to the riches!
After learning all about the Gold Rush and reading Bandit's Moon we had bandits on our minds. The kids did an awesome job creating outlaw wanted posters!
Fraction Pixel Portraits
For this project the students drafted their self portraits on grid paper and counted the number of colored squares needed to complete their full size final pixel portrait. They also calculated the fraction of each color used and learned how to calculate the percentages! This art project was math packed and colorful!
Spring Gnome Art!
We used oil pastels and water colors to create these unique garden gnomes.
