What is Seedy?

Seedy is a native plants marketplace that allows ecologists, land managers, and farmers to network and share information on seed and plant inventories with the intent of sale. Think "Craigslist," but for Native plants used in restoration projects!

Why a marketplace?

Ecologists and other folks working on land restoration have been using shared CSV files to find information about seed collections and plant inventory. This information is not always centralized and can be out of date. Our marketplace works to centralize plant information and make it easy for restoration workers to obtain stock.

Missions of the project

Create a place where the government can acquire and inform about local native plant availability.

Make it more accessible for project managers to source materials for restoration projects.

Make it easier for farmers and plant material sourcers to advertise, network, and sell their plants.

Users can upload plants that they have collected or grown, and they can search for available plants or where they have been found in the past.

Plant collection data based on preexisting a mobile application with varying location accuracy which is mostly applicable to the E-Campus team

Data is spread across tables detailing plant, farm, nursery, and lab  information

This term we focused on implementing the plant functionality, which has the most complex data.

Plant data records identifying data such as species, TSN number, and common name.
