Welcome to the Forsythe lab at Oregon State University-Cascades in Bend, Oregon!

Genomes contain signatures of the forces that have shaped them, and these signatures often point to the regions of the genome that are most critical to function. Research in the Forsythe lab aims to develop novel approaches to detect these genomic watermarks and use them to gain insights into the molecular mechanisms that shape cells. Our approach to research spans multiple levels of biological organization, probing deep levels of organismal diversity with large-scale phylogenomic analyses to extract signatures of the fine-scale molecular interactions underlying intricate cellular functions. The insights gained from this integrative approach range from individual gene functions to emergent structural properties of global protein networks.
