-Empty and wash out milk carton
-Open both sides of the top of the milk carton
-With the help of an adult, poke a few small holes in the bottom of the carton for water to drain out of
-Decorate your pot with paint, construction paper or fun stickers! Get creative! :)
-Fill one carton with 1 cup of potting soil
-Plant 3-4 seeds in each milk carton about 1 inch below the surface. Make sure seeds are covered well with soil.
-Place your pot on a plate to catch any excess water.
-Give you seeds some water and watch them grow!
-Place pot near a sunny window
-Water your seedlings a little bit every day (make sure soil stays moist, but not soaking wet)
-After 2-3 weeks, find somewhere outside to plant your beans! Dig a small hole in the ground, remove your bean plant from the milk carton pot, and place your seedlings in the hole. Compact the soil lightly around your plant. Remember to continue watering them!
-If you have any chicken wire, make a barrier around the bean plants to protect them from being eaten by animals.
-Beans should be ready to pick about 2 months after planting your seeds
-Make sure to thoroughly wash the beans before eating
-Beans can be eaten raw or cooked! There are lots of fun recipes using beans you can find online!
