About Us

Orcutt Academy High School Theatre Arts is based out of beautiful Orcutt, California and is made up of high school students who want to explore the theatre arts in a project-based environment.

In all theatre courses, students apply, develop, and hone the skills of the stage while also learning and applying skills necessary for effective group membership.

The classes provide a stimulating yet safe environment to conquer fears, take risks, and step outside one’s comfort zone to create, analyze, and participate in art and entertainment.

There are three theatre courses at Orcutt Academy:

Drama is a yearlong course that introduces students to body movement, voice, stage acting, auditioning, script analysis, and hands on experiences with theatre through a classroom-based method.

Technical Theatre is a class where students learn the elements of crew and backstage work including management, design (e.g. lighting, scenic, costume, sound, and prop design), and production through the project-based method of learning.

Advanced Drama Production is a yearlong course that challenges students to apply what they have learned in either of the introductory courses. Students become the actors, artists, and technicians who produce two full plays and one showcase per year.
