Beginning Band
Quarter 1
We will be learning about our instruments and how to play them. After learning about care, assembly, and basic embouchure, we will be making first sounds!
While we may not be playing on instruments right away, there is a lot of learning that will take place. Remember, music is a new language and our instrument is our tool to communicate, so it will be challenging!
Students should be practicing instrument care, assembly, and general knowledge.
Quarter 2
We will continue to build on our instrument skills. Remember, music is a new language and our instrument is our tool to communicate, so it will be challenging! A large goal this quarter is to be prepared for our Winter Concert in December.
Students should be practicing instrument care, assembly, and general knowledge.
Quarter 3
We will be building more skills and continuing to explore more music. Remember, music is a new language and our instrument is our tool to communicate, so it will be challenging!
We will be learning about sheet music and what a typical concert piece means for performance. Students will be sight reading multiple pieces to gain better understanding and improve instrument skills.
Students should be practicing instrument care, assembly, and general knowledge.
Quarter 4
We will be building more skills and continuing to explore more music. Remember, music is a new language and our instrument is our tool to communicate, so it will be challenging!
We will be preparing for our final concert of the year! Students are encouraged to complete Band Karate to have sufficient instrument knowledge moving into 6th grade.
