Frontline Weekly
May 31, 2026 - June 6, 2026
As we close out another incredible week at El Modena, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing PTSA and all of the families who donated gift cards, food, treats, decorations, and their time to make Staff Appreciation Week so special. Our teachers and staff felt truly valued and supported by this community, and it meant more than you know.
A very special thank you goes out to Agnes Tu, who coordinated the entire week and made sure every detail looked and tasted fabulous. We are also incredibly grateful to Orna Lang and Nat Hansuvadha for helping make the luncheon in the Nature Center such a wonderful success. Huge thanks as well to Chef and our talented culinary students for preparing an outstanding lunch featuring delicious Chicken Penne and, of course, the pièce de résistance, tiramisu. The care and generosity shown throughout the week were deeply appreciated by every member of our staff.
Our Visual Arts program hosted an outstanding gallery exhibition where art and ceramics students displayed their incredible work. The creativity and talent on display were very inspiring.
Congratulations also go out to all of our scholarship recipients who were celebrated this week at our Scholarship Banquet. We are so thankful for the many community organizations and donors who continue to invest in the futures of our seniors. The evening was filled with inspiring stories, excitement, and optimism for the bright futures ahead.
We ended the week with our annual Goodbye Assembly, where we wished our seniors the very best as they prepare for their next adventure beyond El Modena. The assembly featured spirit-filled performances by ASB, cheer, pom, and VDC that energized the crowd and celebrated the incredible spirit of our campus. Students and staff also enjoyed several spirited games, including a hula-hoop contest and an unforgettable Michael Jackson moonwalk contest. During the assembly, we also introduced next year’s ASB members and leadership team. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the close of the 2025–2026 school year while giving a heartfelt sendoff to the Class of 2026.
Go Vanguards!

For Future 10th Graders
DO YOUR KIDS HAVE PAST DUE BOOKS, TECHNOLOGY OR FEES?
Last school year, a video showing how to look up what textbooks, library books, technology, and fees were connected to your student’s account was created. Although the voiceover mentions last year’s seniors and graduation, the step-by-step guide to see what books, technology, and fees are owed is still current. Please take a look at the video and have your child return the text or library books that are overdue, pay for any lost material, or go to the library to make arrangements for the missing books or technology. We will assign Saturday detentions for students that do not take care of this soon.
We did it! We had a long-short week with fun events. Here are the results and pictures of the winning teams of our Mini-Soccer World Cup per period.

Students who have been referred to summer school have been notified and provided with a summer school information letter that includes registration instructions and a QR code for enrollment. If you did not receive a notice and believe your student may need to attend summer school, please contact your student’s counselor as soon as possible.
Please also note that as final semester grades are posted, any student who earns a second semester D or F will need to be enrolled in summer school. In this case, parents/guardians should contact the school front office promptly for enrollment assistance.
Summer school is an important opportunity for students to stay on track for:
High school graduation
Athletic eligibility
A–G / 4-year college admission requirements
We strongly encourage students to attend if credit recovery or grade improvement is needed.
