The Patient Care Pathway introduces and prepares students for a variety of careers in the medical field while utilizing medical equipment. Students will learn medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, human injury, diseases, disorders and more.
Students receive mentorship from industry professionals and medical career training to prepare students for medical internships and entry level medical jobs they can pursue directly after high school. The Patient Care Pathway gives students a competitive edge in their preparation for college and career.
Medical Core
This course builds on basic principles of medical science, terminology and vocabulary needed to work in the healthcare field. Students will focus on ethical and legal responsibilities of the health care worker, safety, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, body systems and mechanics, standard precautions and health and fitness. Also included are health care delivery systems, regulatory agencies, research, current technology, and socio-economic issues affecting health care. Students explore career opportunities in therapeutic, diagnostic, and supportive areas. Students gain practical hands-on experience in Vital Signs, Emergency Medical Care, and First Aid, and will be, certified in CPR. Medical

Body Systems and Disorders
Body Systems and Disorders provides students with a rigorous medical science course designed to support career and college readiness.
Students will learn the anatomy, physiology, and function of the major body systems. Each unit will also highlight common diseases and disorders. Students will gain a deep understanding of signs, symptoms, and causes of common diseases and disorders. This course is part of the sequence of courses in the medical pathway.

I'm so excited to teach Med Core, Body Systems and Disorders, and Emergency Medical Response! My educational background includes Santa Ana College’s fire technology program and Cal State Fullerton. There, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies. After college, I worked as a firefighter for several years and loved every minute of it. In addition, I have been an EMT for over 20 years and have taught for nearly 10 years throughout Orange County.
