This course explores various careers in the Medical and Health Industry Sector and prepares students for entry-level jobs in the field. Students learn the requirements and opportunities for post-secondary education and develop a personal career/life plan while learning valuable foundation skills that will benefit them throughout their school and working life. Instruction includes Foundations in Health together with hands-on experience in the specific areas of Health Informatics, Patient Care, and Sports Medicine.
Students will learn competencies specific to the medical field including CPR & First Aid, medical terminology, and designing a fitness program.
Students will have exposure to numerous professional careers in the healthcare field and will learn basic skills associated with each that is presented.
In taking this course, students will have the opportunity to advance their knowledge and skill set by progressing to higher level medical courses while at VPHS.
I am a Certified Athletic Trainer and a Certified Orthopedic Physician by trade and have 7 years of professional expertise.
My alma maters include California State University, San Marcos and California Baptist University.
I love snowboarding, camping, watching the Angels, Ducks, and Packers, and being outdoors with my boyfriend and our dog Astro!
