Once you have been offered a job, you will need to fill out the work permit application form. Please use the following link to obtain the form.
Print the form and fill out the section titled "Minor's Information"
Have a parent/guardian sign the form where it says "To be filled in and signed by parent or legal guardian".
*TIP: Do these 2 steps and take the form with you when you go on an interview. It helps to show preparedness and it saves you a trip back to get the work information if they offer you a job!*
Have the employer fill out the section titled "To be filled in and signed by employer". YOUR PERMIT CANNOT BE FILED WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION!
Be sure to leave the section titled "School Information" as well as the bottom box titled "For authorized work permit issuer use only" blank.
After your application form is completed email it to Ms. Gonzalez at cynthia.gonzalez@orangeusd.org. Ms. Gonzalez will process your application and submit it to administration for approval. Approved permits will be emailed back by the end of the following school day.
Students are required to have and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
Students must have satisfactory school attendance.
Can I receive my completed permit sooner than the next day?
Due to the multi-step process of permit filing we cannot guarantee them any faster than 24 hours. Your permit will be emailed to you as soon as it is ready.
If I got a new job, do I need a new permit?
Yes! Permits are specific to each individual job. Everytime you get a new job you need to file a new permit with the new employer information.
Can I turn in my permit for processing without the employer information?
No. Employer information is required to process the permit.
What are the hours I am permitted to work?
The hours and work guidelines are set by the state. You can look at the CA Dept of Industrial Relations website for more information.
What if I need an entertainment work permit?
Please out reach out directly to your counselor for an entertainment work permit.
My permit is expiring what do I do?
Permits are issued for each current school year. All permits expire at the end of August. You need to file a new permit each school year when you return.
