Growing up in Vermont my whole childhood was filled with being outside whether it was with my family, out on hikes, or playing in the woods with my friends. when I was at my dad's house my brothers and I would spend hours outside every day, we would build mountain biking and other trails in the woods behind the house, and after long days in the summertime, we would go swimming at a pond near our dad's house. when I was at my mom's house in town I would spend my days hanging out with friends mountain biking and making frequent visits to the local river.
although I have amazing memories of the land where I grew up as I've gotten older I have started to notice more and more things that need to be fixed in the environment and land around me. Climate change is affecting everyone now and has gotten me much more interested in the environment and the things that we need to do to fight climate change.
One of my favorite memories when I was a kid was my dad, brothers and I traveling to Maine and spending the whole weekend on an island in the middle of a lake. we spent time fishing and canoeing around the island and I had an amazing time. I think that trip made me appreciate the environment around me so much more and want to protect it and keep it pristine for as long as possible.
