Makerspace Availability

If you want to reserve the Makerspace, send Eddie Evans an email. Otherwise, students can drop in during open times. To see if the Makerspace is open or closed, look at the Home Page. Make sure you fill out the form on the Home Page before students come to the Makerspace. During closed times, Eddie Evans is not available. However, you are more than welcome to come with your students during those times. If you bring students to the Makerspace, and I'm not there, please clean up after yourselves.

Can students go to the Makerspace during their lunch and/or recess?  Students can not come in during their lunch but they may come in during their recess.

Why would the Makerspace be closed?  I might have to leave the room to eat, go fix something, go potty, work with a teacher, participate in a meeting, and/or work with students. It also may be closed because it is reserved or is already at it's student limit.

What if a student just needs help with a Chromebook, or needs to get a Chromebook loaner, or just needs to get something from the Makerspace like cardboard?  Send them. No need to fill out the form. However, I may not be in the Makerspace. You can check the Makerspace site Home Page to see if it's open.

What about 3D Printing? Kids love 3D printing!  Fill out the form on the Home Page. Send the student to the Makerspace - if it's open. The design has to be created by the student in Tinkercad. Students can log in to Tinkercad using their school Google account. I won't print designs that aren't actually created by the student (i.e. I won't print designs someone else made that they search for and import into Tinkercad). The design should have something to do with what the student is learning. 3D printing is first come first serve. I don't create a queue of students who want to 3D print. Also, I don't 3D print at the end of the day. I need to be at school to ensure that the 3D print is printing successfully.

What about green screen recording? Kids love to record themselves!  In order to do a green screen recording students have to have a script prepared. It doesn't have to be printed out. A Google Doc will do just fine. Students also need to be practiced and ready. NOTE:  As of 9/1 my green screen is not installed yet. I will remove this note when it is ready.
