Since receiving the Verizon Innovative Learning School grant, we have witnessed a remarkable transformation in the academic and personal development of our students. Their immediate access to the internet through the use of the devices issued by Verizon has opened the doors to learning in ways families never imagined. In addition, the enrichment of innovative curriculum ideas and teaching methodologies implemented through the work of Digital Promise and our VILS coach has changed the way we look at teaching and learning. Most of this would not have been possible without the collaboration of Verizon, Digital Promise, and the Orange Township Public Schools.
The commitment of the teachers and staff at Orange Preparatory Academy of Inquiry and Innovation is truly commendable. Their passion for education, coupled with their engagement in the learning experiences this year in utilizing technology, has created an enhanced learning environment for the students. The integration of technology in the classroom has not only improved the students' digital literacy but has also fostered their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
As Principal, I am particularly impressed by the Verizon Innovative Learning School's emphasis on equity and access to quality education. The school's collaboration with Verizon and its commitment to bridging the digital divide has provided our students with the opportunity to explore new horizons and unlock their full potential.
In conclusion, I want to express our deepest gratitude to the entire Verizon and Digital Promise Team for their unwavering dedication and commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience through this grant. The impact you have made on our school is immeasurable, and we are confident that the skills and values our students and staff have acquired through this partnership will serve as a strong foundation for our future success.
I'm truly excited to take on the role of the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools Coach this school year, which gives me the chance to work closely with my fellow teachers. As a VILS Coach, my aim is to provide personalized, non-evaluative support to help teachers integrate effective teaching practices and strategies. Drawing on the relationships that I've built over the years as Technology Coordinator, I look forward to a seamless collaboration within our school community. Together, we'll work towards enhancing student engagement and achievement, while expanding our arsenal of technological tools.
Each year, approximately 375 - 400 8th graders transition to Orange Preparatory Academy of Inquiry and Innovation from seven different elementary schools. Our primary mission is to equip our scholars with the necessary skills and knowledge for success in high school. To kick start this journey, students are offered the chance to engage in our Summer Bridge Program, allowing our educators to evaluate and strengthen their foundational abilities. Additionally, this period serves as an opportunity to cultivate a sense of community and establish our school's culture among our incoming students. We aim for every student's experience at the Prep to be enriching, engaging and empowering.
