Grade 3 - iRead & INDEPENDENT Reading Books

Complete 2 part assignment:

1. Complete iRead for 20 minutes 3 times a week. At the end of each unit students read a book and are given comprehension questions. Students should accomplish reading at least 3 comprehension books in the program by the end of the summer.

2. Read one book independently per week. Write a response to one of the two questions below for each book. Choose the appropriate prompt based on the type of text read.

Fiction: Do you agree with how your character identified the problem in the story? Explain your answer using evidence from the text.

Non-fiction: What is something interesting you learned from the book that you did not know before? Use specific evidence from the text to explain your learning.

OR - Students who have completed iRead

Complete 2 Reading Plus lessons a week for six weeks. Students will choose 1 lesson and complete the writing prompt. Students should have a minimum of six written responses.

Written responses for grades 1-3 can be posted in the google classroom Grade 3 Reading captured via phone and sent to teachers in September via Class Dojo.
