Students were assigned to independently research careers in forensic science and design an original Forensic Science Careers Poster. My poster is on the topic of Forensic Artist. 

Student were assigned to read the Lead Case, State v. Richard Crafts ,or watch “Crime Stories ‐ The Wood Chipper Wife Killer” to learn more about the case.  

Afterwards they would write an essay utilizing AI software as a template and then make necessary edits to make it it there own original work.

The questions:

Based on the dramatization, what motive did Richard Crafts have to murder his wife, Helle? Explain your reasoning 

In your opinion, whose testimony was the most significant in opening up the case? Explain your choice. 

Give several reasons why the murder case and conviction of Richard Crafts for the murder of Helle Crafts was so  unusual and significant. In your answer describe the   role of Forensic Science in changing this from a missing person case  to  a murder case. Give examples.

Students will determine what they believe to be the answer to the question “Should Steven Avery have been convicted of the murder of Teresa Halbach?” They will showcase their decision in the form of a Google Slideshow and present their findings to the class.

The Sam Sheppard case is an internationally known case that was even used as the basis for the movie, “The Fugitive”.  The real story, however, is much different than the movie. You will be creating a careful analysis of the Sam Sheppard case- what went wrong?  Was the wrong man accused or was justice served?  What did the evidence say?

Students will use the information from the Innocence Project to learn about their given topic, the strategies for preventing wrongful convictions per their topic, and one actual Case of a person who was wrongfully convicted due to their topic. Students will create a Google Slide presentation with all of this information, and share it with the class.

Develop an Ethical Failure Presentation highlighting the main points of your discussion, including the ethical standards of a forensic scientist, what went wrong in these cases, and how we can implement policies so that ethical violations won't happen again. Use the Ethical Analysis Rubric to help guide your presentation.  You can use the following texts to help you get started.

After researching a specific serial OR spree killer, you will compile a profile of this criminal in a research scenario.  Pick a criminal of interest to you from the list Unit 3 Project Sign-Up and start researching history, crimes, story of conviction, etc.  You will then create a presentation using Google Slides, PowerPoint, etc.
