Work-Based Learning is a combination of experiential, supervised educational activities designed to provide students with exposure to the requirements and responsibilities of specific job titles or job groups, and to assist them in gaining employment skills and making career and educational decisions.
In collaboration with local industry and business partners, students make direct connections through a meaningful work experience aligned to the student’s career and technical education (CTE) program of study.

Students engaged in a WBL experience apply skills learned through academic programs to real-world business activities. A WBL Training Plan is developed in collaboration with the student, workplace mentor, CTE teacher and WBL coordinator to create specific learning objectives for students placed at internship locations. Students are monitored by the WBL coordinator, CTE teacher and mentor throughout their placement to ensure objectives are met and that their training plan results in a positive outcome.
