Guidelines for Success
A successful math experience requires much classroom participation. You will be expected to work cooperatively in groups or with a partner, sharing your mathematical thinking, as well as listening and responding respectfully to the ideas of others.
Good attendance is extremely important in math class!! If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed and get the assignments completed. Absences and make-up work procedures follow the Orange County School regulations. Please see me if you need extra time and we will work it out.
Homework
Homework will be given most days Monday through Thursday. Assignments should be done neatly and must show your work and/or thinking. Your homework will be due the following day at the beginning of the class period. It will be checked and sometimes collected. Collected homework will receive a grade of 3, 2, 1 or 0 based on the following criteria:
3 – completed showing all necessary steps
2 – partially completed or lacking some steps
1 – little effort, or turned in late
0 – no homework
Note to Parents/Guardians: If your child is spending more than 25-30 minutes on math homework because it is too difficult, please have them STOP, write a note on what is causing them difficulty, and have your child talk to me the next day.
Grading
Grades will be based on accumulated scores over the course of the grading period from homework, quizzes, unit tests, cooldowns, and classwork. The scale used will be as follows:
90-100% - A 80-89% - B 70-79% - C 60-69% - D 59 or below - F
