First Grade:

This year we are making Pattern Journals independently when we are Pattern Detectives!

Second Grade:

Our September/October Changes Curriculum themes are:
Changes/define change Lesson , Weather Introduction and Weather Lore Lessons                

 There is a lot of fun "lore" to share!
For example:

According to weather lore, crickets can tell the temperature. 

If you hear a cricket, stop, and tally (count) the number of cricket chirps in 15 seconds. Then add 37 to the number. That sum is usually the temperature of the ground where the cricket is sitting!

We use our Changes Brainstorm Journals to make predictions/observations and record results when we are independently working as Change Scientists! We are using thinking maps and bubble maps right now, too. 

Third Grade/Fourth Grade/Fifth Grade :

In our AR group- we will be initially working with short stories by the Brothers Grimm and fables by Aesop . These lessons are from our OCS AIG Plan curriculum, Jacob’s Ladder by Routledge Press. We will also have project extensions that align to the classroom's HMH curriculum lasting four weeks.

In our AM group- we will be working with Primary Grade/ Primary Challenge Math by Zaccario and Concept Quests by MLC aligned with enVision Math classroom curriculum. A project learning with tessellations will be presented as a math September/October choice activity.  

In our IG “puzzler” group- we will be more hands-on, which means these groups often will be outside of the classroom. We will work through spatial visual/ logic/ thinking puzzles and games collaboratively. This group will also have an Enrich and Extend folder for the classroom this year.
