Here, I will house our past quarterly newsletters, all contact information, and important links pertinent to the AIG program at A.L. Stanback.
What is "AIG"?
A.L. Stanback's AIG program offers challenge and enrichment for students who are ready to go beyond standard curriculum. Students can be identified for AIG services through a referral process that takes place in the fall, winter, and spring. Students who were previously identified as AIG in elementary school will continue to receive services. Students may qualify in English Language Arts (ELA), Math, or both.
Students who are not identified as AIG may still be placed in advanced math or ELA classes based on teacher and parent recommendation, along with scores on recent assessments. Eighth graders are given the opportunity to participate in Math 1 and English 1 classes, which are both high school credited classes. Instruction in Plus classes is compacted and accelerated and involves more advanced topics with greater depth and complexity.

About Mr. Hulbert
Mr. Hulbert loves teaching poetry and sci-fi, and finding excuses to incorporate party city wigs into a lesson plan whenever possible. He previously has worked as an English teacher at Jordan High School, a 4-H agent, and as Dean of Student Culture at Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School. He has a cat named after Sylvia Plath, and three house plants he has proudly (barely) kept alive for three years. He has a natural and well-founded distrust of cephalopods and other creatures with a beak.
For the 2025-2026 school year, I will be focusing on 7th Grade.
