At Oradell Public School, we believe that creating lifelong readers and learners is at the heart of what we do—and that learning doesn’t end when school does. As we live The Way of the Panther, we encourage every student to show curiosity, courage, and commitment, even over the summer!
This summer, we’re challenging our students to push past their comfort zones by exploring a variety of genres and making reading part of their daily routine. All students entering grades 1–6 are expected to read at least 20 minutes each day. Try reading in a new spot, explore a new author, or lose yourself in an old favorite. The goal is simple: READ every day—and ENJOY it!
Want to take it a step further? Let your imagination guide you through a creative summer reading project! These options connect with different learning styles and give students a chance to express what they've read in a meaningful and personalized way:
🎨 The Artistic Lens
See the world in images? Use music, color, and design to express yourself! Create a collage, illustration, or short video with pictures and music that represent a book you read this summer.
🔬 The STEAM Lens
Love to build, research, or explore big ideas? Dig deeper into a topic from a book and create a slideshow, model, or invention based on what you’ve learned.
📝 The Writing Lens
Have a way with words? Rewrite the ending, craft a poem, or write a sequel to a story you read. Express your voice through narrative, poetry, or reflection.
🗣️ The Social Lens
Love to talk it out? Share your thoughts in a video, book talk, or even a conversation with family or friends.
These are just a few ideas—the possibilities are endless. Wherever your summer takes you, take a book along for the ride. Stay curious, keep reading, and continue to follow The Way of the Panther.
