Paper offers Oak Park students individualized academic support at no cost to their families. Paper tutors serve as virtual teaching assistants that are available for homework help, writing feedback, and study support. Tutors use a chat model and the Socratic Method to guide students through a problem or concept, and all session transcripts and essay review feedback are visible to teachers and administrators.
Paper does not replace the important work that happens in your classroom. It ensures that all OPUSD students have access to high-quality academic supports outside of the school day. For more information, visit the Teacher Page on Paper's website.
Teachers can sign in to Paper via Clever or by visiting app.paper.co/login. Teachers will click the Google button and enter their @opusd.org account information. Click HERE for detailed instructions.
Once signed into Clever, click on the "Paper Trail" button in the upper right corner. This will take you to the Paper Trail course in Canvas (you do not need a Canvas account to access). Paper Trail is made up of 5 self-paced virtual modules, and should take roughly one hour to complete. Please print a copy of your Paper Pro certification and attach it to your Professional Development Passport to earn your BuyBack hour.
Each module contains video tutorials, interactive assignments/activities, and a quiz. The modules can be completed in one sessions, or over multiple sessions. Once you have completed the Paper Trail, you will bofficially be a Paper Pro!
Like with any tool, students will need to know how and when to use Paper. Teachers should establish a clear and concise protocol for appropriate use. For example, students should not be using Paper instead of attending 7th Period Support or during class time. Students should access Paper at home during evenings and weekends when their teacher(s) is not available.
Likewise, students using Paper during an assessment, without prior teacher approval, will be in violation of the site's Academic Honesty policy.
