About me

Aloha 8th-grade science students, and welcome to the 2023-24 school year!

My name is Tara Lamb and this is my 7th year with MCMS and 9th year since the start of my teaching journey.  My educational background includes Marine Science (Cuesta College/Cal Poly), Marine Geoscience (CSUN), and art(CSUCI)! I also earned a Single-Subject teaching credential (Geological sciences) from CLU. I have a little family that includes my husband, son, and our dog Bronco. I love to surf, do yoga, play guitar, and watch Star Wars. My love of science began when I was very young growing up on the beach.  I developed an appreciation for nature, namely, marine environments, and knew someday I would want to be a part of protecting our planet.

My goal as an educator has always been simple: to share my love of science while instilling a drive in learners to make a difference.  Now more than ever false information about the nature of science spreads like wildfire across social media leaving people confused, fearful, and unsure of the future of our planet.  Young people often want to help, but simply do not understand why help is needed.  By experiencing science in an integrated way, students will gain understanding from a multi-dimensional perspective rather than simply retaining/memorizing information.  With the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) students will not only learn how to analyze and interpret information, but how to communicate by engaging in argument from evidence, and, collaborate with colleagues to solve problems related to that information.

While 8th-grade science is a challenging course, it is also fun, hands-on, and will prepare you in a multitude of ways. I look forward to meeting and collaborating with all of you very soon.  Here's to a great year!

Mahalo,

Mrs. Lamb
