"It's the truth, even if it didn't happen." -Ken Kesey
Veritas General Submissions Portal: Now Closed
Thank you for those who participated in the application process this year. Selected poems, essays, and stories will be announced in the spring of 2026.
Veritas is Latin for TRUTH. It's also the name of Oak Park High's literary magazine, the only place on campus to have your creative writing formally published for the benefit of a wider community. We don't see fiction as the opposite of truth in this club. We see it as an alternative, limitless window into realities of the human condition. And we believe you have a unique story to tell that will grant us newways to understand oldtruths.
Interested? Here are a few ways to get involved:
-Join our club for the 2025-26 school year by attending Monday lunch meetings in H9. Take part in our selection, curation, and dissemination process--invaluable experience for those with an interest in publication!
-Write something. No, really. Write something--anything--and then muster the courage to show someone. Your voice has power when it can be heard. Submit your original poetry, short stories, and other mediums of creative writing to our magazine-- no prerequisites necessary! Selected pieces will be published in this year's edition of Veritas.
-Participate in our special contests: the Writpiece competitions (run once a semester) and the Cover Photo Contest each February!
