My name is Janet Svoboda, and I am excited to be the 9th Grade Counselor at OPHS!  I grew up in Agoura Hills and graduated from nearby Agoura High School, so it feels especially meaningful to serve students in this community.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Art, along with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, from Cal State Northridge.  I later completed my Master’s degree in Educational Counseling at California Lutheran University.  Before transitioning into counseling, I spent five years as an elementary school teacher, an experience that guides how I foster a positive and encouraging environment for students.

I am also a parent of two wonderful children who are currently in middle school and high school, which gives me a deep appreciation for the joys and challenges students and families experience during these years. I truly enjoy working with students of all ages and am passionate about supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally.
