Math/Physics Society

The Math/Physics Society is for individuals with a genuine curiosity and passion to experience mathematical application through hands-on physical science.  Prior knowledge will be reinforced and advanced through in-person projects, experimentation, and guest speaker presentations.  

Medical Career Interest Group

Medical Career Interest Group (MCIG) is a collection of students who are pondering careers in the medical field. Future nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and anyone else who is interested in learning about opportunities that exist in the healthcare industry should plan on joining us. Representatives from local medical schools will be visiting to teach us about the educational opportunities that exist at their institutions and give us some tips for the high school years that will help with the collegiate application process

Science Club

Science Club is a group of students interested in different areas of science. Students meet to do activities, present ideas, and discuss current scientific topics. They attend various field trips to local sites of scientific interest, listen to guest speakers, and participate in science competitions.

Society of Science Scholars

A student is eligible to apply for membership if they are enrolled in a full year chemistry course, or have formerly completed a full year chemistry course. At the end of the second quarter of each academic year, students with an overall average of 90% or higher across all classes at the time of application and a cumulative average of 95% or higher in all high school science courses are notified of their initial eligibility. Eligible students must complete an application and must turn it in on or before the due date. Applications will be collected and verified by The Society advisors. Acceptance letters will be distributed with an induction ceremony to follow. Inducted students continue their membership by maintaining an active role in science related activities including but not limited to:

● Active membership in at least one science club at OPHS (Sustainability Club, STEM Club, Medical Careers Interest Club, Science Club, Math/Physics Society)

● Attend lectures sponsored by one of the science clubs at OPHS

● Participate in one or more OP Elementary or Middle School “Science Nights”

Each year members must engage in society sponsored activities including:

● Inauguration event recognizing new members

● Attendance at society meetings

A member must maintain behavior that is acceptable to the guidelines as outlined by the school’s code of conduct.

Members must maintain an overall academic average

of 90% or higher

S.T.E.M Club

STEM Club is a forum for the discussion and application of science, technology, engineering and math disciplines with an emphasis on real-world projects and competitions. Our principle areas of interest revolve around rocketry, drone flight, and whatever aspect of STEM interests you the most.

Sustainability Club

The purpose of this organization is to make Orchard Park a more sustainable and environmentally friendly Organization. This will involve the management and Work towards recycling and light conservation, Informational flyers, the implementation of a compost
