Literacy Lab is supplementary literacy support for a period of time. In a typical year, the goals of AIS are to develop specific reading skills and strategies, meant to support student efforts with reading and writing in all their base classes, and to help students develop a life-long love of reading through the Leveled Literacy Instruction program.
This year, our primary focus is on SUPPORTING readers and writers in ELA and Social Studies, while helping students to build necessary background knowledge for reading success. We will NOT be using the Leveled Literacy Instruction Program this year.
READ DAILY - this may include reading nonfiction such as, ReadWorks articles, Newsela articles, and Action Magazine articles. Independent fiction reading in a student selected text will round out our reading practice. Note: Students are expected to complete STATUS OF THE CLASS every time they read their independent book.
ANALYZE & REFLECT on base assignments in small groups and with Mrs. Wolf.
COMPLETE all or parts of supported assignments during asynchronous learning time.
CONNECT with Mrs. Wolf via Google Meet, Office Hours, and email to remain an engaged and active participant in the learning process.
