PHOTOS & FEEDBACK

FROM THE AUGUST 2021 TRIP

Open Sky essentially ran the same trip last year (except without the additional contribution of photo pro/instructor Mollie Isaacs whom we are delighted to also have joining this year). They traveled during the same intentionally chosen time of year (mid/late-August), also aboard the Samba, for the same number of nights, with Juan Salcedo as their expert naturalist guide, and Temu Nana as our Open Sky Expeditions photo pro & tour leader.

Below are few comments received in feedback forms or post-trip emails + a few pics taken by Temu during the trip.

FEEDBACK from August 2021

Impressed with all of it. You delivered an excellent experience that we will be reflecting on for many years to come! thank you so much Alex, Temu and the rest of your crew.

Absolutely top notch guide and photography opportunities.

Juan's knowledge of natural history and presentation skill is excellent. He made this trip into the desired nature photography event instead of a 'vacation' on the giant Silversea.

Every location was great, intimate and free of tourists. When a baby sea lion waddles up to your face on a Survivor worthy beach, you know you are in the right spot at the right time.

The trip was great! The Samba was wonderful — funky, friendly, comfortable. Juan was superb—VERY knowledgeable, an excellent teacher, very good at group management, and helpful. Temu was extremely helpful. His openness, thoughtfulness and humor are wonderful assets. He loves his work, freely shares his enthusiasm, and is also very adept at managing a varied group of folk.

My third trip with Open Sky Expeditions was as perfect as the first two.

Open Sky stands out for the care and detail of the pre-trip planning, the skill of the guides and tour leader.

Once again Temu was invaluable. He responded well to every complaint, suggestion, and request. Watching him dive in to recover Vicky's cell phone was clearly above the call of duty. My worst concern was the Covid test to return home. Temu's excellent organization and accompaniment through that process (plus the Negative result!) was invaluable.

It was a trip of a lifetime—a great adventure. Juan is probably the best there is! And Temu... he is the best thing about Open Sky (and there are many great things). I would go anywhere in the world with Temu. He went above and beyond to ensure our safety and happiness.

Juan was extremely knowledgeable, fun, with funny, entertaining lectures. I also loved how he was so patient, kind and helpful to the fellow shipmate who had a phobia about snorkeling. Juan went in with her and a flotation device until she started feeling comfortable, then held her hand and pulled her through the water so she could enjoy the scenery down below.

The trip was great! The Quito portion was informative and interesting. Juan is a fantastic naturalist etc. and works very well with people. Some of my favorites experiences were snorkeling with the fur seals and then the sea turtles + walking in various stops while being able to photograph wildlife. The terrain was frequently challenging but assistance was readily available.
