Cottontail Class Objectives
Introduce the alphabet to each student in a fun manner. This in turn will help them to recognize familiar objects that begin with the same letter and sound. As well as helping them to become aware if a letter is in their name.
Introduce the numbers 1-10. This will be reinforced through our art projects as well as different tasks we will perform by ourselves or as a group. We will tie in our numbers with an object that may start with our letter of the week or with our theme for the week.
Introduce shapes and colors. We have set aside time in our school calendar to focus on our shapes and colors. However, throughout the school year we will continue to encourage recognition for each skill with our art projects.
Along with the above we will work on strengthening the following skills:
*Recognizing their first names, verbally knowing their parent’s names (first and last), as well as their last name
*Birth dates and age
*Listening and following simple directions, staying on task.
*Strengthening our fine motor skills (i.e., cutting with scissors, holding crayon/marker/pencil properly).
*Developing ability to put on a jacket/sweater and book bag with little assistance.
*Picking up after ourselves.
