I am excited to introduce myself as your 5th grade teacher. This will be my fourteenth year here at Longfellow and my sixth year teaching 5th grade. After working for many years in Finance, I made a career change to Teaching and graduated with a Master of Arts in Education from National-Louis University in 2010.
I attended 5th grade in Miami, FL, where I mainly grew up. Currently, I live in Oak Park with my husband and two sons, when they are around. My oldest son just graduated from the University of Missouri with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Math. My youngest son spent last year as a freshman at UIC, and has now transferred as a Sophomore to the University of Maryland majoring in Physics. I love to swim! Long ago I was a competitive swimmer at The Ohio State University and I still go back from time to time to compete in the annual homecoming alumni swim meet. I also enjoy reading, gardening and traveling in my spare time.
I had a very "chill" summer. My husband and I took a trip with friends to the Napa Valley region of California. I also visited with extended family, attended a Cubs game, read several books, put new plants in the ground in our backyard, and was a regular during 9:00 AM lap swim at Ridgeland Pool.
I am excited to get to know you and find out about your summer adventures. Let's get ready to have a Fantastic 5th Grade year at Longfellow!
