Time sure flies! In February, we have been reading facts about Black History Month facts as we keep practicing the reading and decoding skills in Spanish.
K- Kindergarteners have been loving singing and learning vocabulary as we read stories about snowmen, Valentine's day, and penguins. They also have been thriving sharing how they are feeling when I first greet them in class.
1st- First graders are taking on the challenge of reading along their first novel in Spanish Edi el Elefante, They are following along as we read the elephant's struggles.
2nd- Second graders love capybaras. Ask them about the novel we started reading in class as we follow Carlos adventures in the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador.
3rd- Students' reading skills have improved as we keep on reading the novel Brandon Brown Quiere un Perro.
4th- Fourth graders are immersing themselves in the Spanish speaking countries' culture as they follow along Renata in the novel La Piñata de Renata. They are eager to know which country she is visiting next.
5th- Students are learning important cultural traditions of Spanish speaking countries as they read the novel La Familia de Federico Rico.
Students learned & engaged in different traditions celebrated around the world for the Holidays.
K- Kindergarteners read a story to express winter vocabulary.
1st- First graders learned about different Holidays, including "La Noche de las Velitas" in Colombia.
2nd- Students reviewed winter vocabulary to express what they like to do during the cold days.
3rd- Students keep practicing listening and reading along the book "Brandon Brown Quiere un Perro".
4th- Students are invested to follow along the main character of the book "La Piñata de Renata" as they learn more about Spanish speaking countries.
5th- Students started reading the book "La Familia de Federico Rico". They are practicing comprehension & reading skills.
Students learned & engaged in different Day of the Dead, Fall, Thanksgiving, and now Winter activities.
K- Started to learn weather vocabulary and seasons such as "otoño". We have been reading different short stories to support understanding.
1st- Students followed along a story of a turkey avoiding to get eaten by wearing disguises. Students were able to disguise their own turkey as they shared what they are thankful for.
2nd- Students shared what they are thankful for & participated in different reading activities.
3rd- Students started to read the book "Brandon Brown Quiere un Perro", they are reviewing & learning new vocabulary to help with comprehension.
4th- Students are immersing themselves in different countries' cultures and customs as we read the first chapters of the book "La Piñata de Renata". Their favorite so far is "el chupacabras".
5th- Students took on the challenge of completing a Day of the Dead room escape activity. They read & completed different activities to get the code. I'm proud of them for taking on the challenge.
To kick off the school year, we have been practicing greetings and basic questions about ourselves; learning the routines and expectations for Spanish class.
