2024 Battle of the Bots
The Battle of the Bots Chicagoland Robotics League Championship is an exciting, all-day competition for some of the best VEX Robotics middle school teams in Illinois! This event is open to the public and a great way to get kids excited about STEM learning. Join us on Saturday, February 24th for the Championship of the Chicagoland Robotics League! Thirty-nine robots from eight middle schools will go head-to-head in the exciting VEX Robotics game, Over Under.

EVENT SCHEDULE
7:00 AM – Doors officially open
8:15 AM – All teams must be checked in and inspected; Team meeting in Pit
8:30 AM – Match Schedule posted
8:50 AM – Opening Ceremony
9:00 AM – Qualifying Matches begin
11:30 AM – Lunch Break (30 minutes)
12:00 PM – Qualifying Matches (cont.)
1:00 PM – Skills Arena closes
2:00 PM – Design & Skills Awards Announced
2:30 PM – Alliance Selection & Elimination Matches begin
4:15 PM – Final Awards Ceremony
5:00 PM – Event ends
5:00 - 6:00 PM – Event Break down and Cleanup

TEAM INFORMATION
PARKING
Brooks Middle School has a parking lot located on Kenilworth Ave, north of Washington Blvd. There is also parking on the surface streets (Washington, Clinton and Randolph) surrounding the school. Click on links below for more information regarding parking and restrictions.

Teams can enter at the main entrances for Brooks on both Clinton & Kenilworth Avenues
TEAM CHECK-IN - MAIN HALLWAY
When you arrive, check-in and you'll get your Welcome Packet
Welcome Packet will contain general information about the tournament, lanyards and badges.
Locate your table and wait for your team members and robot to arrive.
TEAM INSPECTION
Teams must have arrived, checked in and passed Inspection by 8:00 AM
When all teams have passed inspection, the Qualification Match schedule will be finalized and distributed to the teams.
LATE POLICY
If you have issues in transit the morning of the tournament, you need to immediately text or call Brian Shinners at 708-254-2927. We will work with your team in whatever way we can, but we cannot delay the start of the tournament.
PIT AREA EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST
Every team will be provided an a table with 6 seats and access to a power outlet.
We will be enforcing that safety goggles are worn when in the arenas. Goggles will be provided.

SPECTATOR INFORMATION
The Battle of the Bots is a live event and free of charge to spectators!! Spectators are not allowed in the PIT AREA.
If you cannot make it to the live event, it can be live streamed at Brooks Middle School Events!!
WANT TO HELP OUT ??
The Battle of the Bots is quite an event to pull off. There are many moving parts involved in running the event itself, but help is needed in setting up and breaking down everything.
If you can help out setting up on Friday, assisting with running the event on Saturday or breaking down after the event please sign up at 2024 Battle of the Bots Volunteers
If you can have a 4th or 5th grader who will be coming with you and they would like to help be the field setters sign them up here.

FOOD POLICY
There will be no food or drink sales during the event. However, the main hallway will have tables set up for people who bring their own lunch. There are also many family-friendly fast food and take-out options available within a short drive and many offer pre-order options. Only water bottles are allowed in the gyms.

PIT - BROOKS COMMONS
Pit opens at 7:00 AM
Every team will be provided an a table with 6 seats and access to a power outlet.
We have power strips.
Tables will be marked with Team Name, Team Number and School
We will be enforcing that safety goggles are worn when in the arenas.
INSPECTION - HALLWAY ADJACENT TO PIT
Inspection opens at 7:00 AM in the corridor adjacent to the Pit.
All teams must pass inspection to compete in the Battle of the Bots. All teams need to have passed inspection by 8:15 AM so the tournament schedule can be set and published.
We strongly encourage you to review the Inspection Checklist (In Packet) and pre-inspect your robot before showing up for the event.
If you are having trouble passing inspection, let us know and we will work with your team. We want every team to be able to compete and have a great time!
DRIVER'S MEETING – BROOKS AUDITORIUM
At about 8:15 we'll bring everyone into the Auditorium for the Driver's Meeting. Each team is invited to hear the referees review the rules for the day.
ROBOT SKILLS CHALLENGE – BROOKS AUDITORIUM
The Robot Skills Challenge Arena will be open from 7:00 AM-1:00 PM. Teams must have passed inspection before they can do the Skills Challenge. We recommend you do the Skills Arena early in the morning as we expect it to be very busy.
The rules are as follows:
Each team can do unlimited Driving Skills and Programming Skills matches.
Please note: the Robot Skills Arena WILL close at 1:00 PM.
COMPETITION ARENAS - BROOKS MAIN GYM
