Art Class Types

Many do not believe that art is an important school subject, but take a look around: art is everywhere! Your favorite coffee mug was designed by an artist. Your dining room chairs were designed by an artist. Your smart phone and its apps were designed by an artist. Your clothing was designed by an artist. Houses, stores, cars, and advertisements are all designed by different types of artists. Whether society wants to admit it or not, art is an integral part of our community.

There are many stable art job opportunities today, especially within the digital world. My classes aim to expose students to a variety of art types, educate them on art history, provide them with hands-on learning opportunities, and ultimately prepare them for an art job if they choose that path.

Even if students do not choose an art career, art challenges students to strengthen many skills that are needed in any workplace, such as creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, communication, time management, and many more.

"Before a child speaks they sing. Before they write they draw. As soon as they stand they dance. Art is fundamental to human expression." -Phylicia Rashad

“There are two distinct languages. There is the verbal, which separates people… and there is the visual that is understood by everybody.” -Yaacov Agam
