Hello!
My name is Mr. Millman. I am a Special Education Teacher for grades 3,4,5.
About the Program:
The goal of the Management Attention Program is to promote the development of self-control in our students so that they may actively participate in their learning. The program focuses on social skills training, assistance with academic and social frustrations, self-control, and appropriate coping skills.
The Management Attention Program is designed to be a positive, proactive and consistent program for teaching our students the skills needed to succeed in their home, school and community. The program provides a structure whereby staff can consistently teach, reward and increase the targeted skills. The goal of the program is to promote the development of self-control in our students so that they may actively participate in their learning. We believe that the development of these skills will better prepare them for the educational, familial and interpersonal demands they currently face.
Our program is designed to decrease problematic behavior through the consistent application of rewards and consequences. In addition, we teach replacement skills such as accepting feedback, respecting self and others, self-control and anger management, stress management and problem solving. All staff are considered teachers of social skills. Social skills are taught across all curriculum areas in alignment with New York State standards.
The goal of our program is to teach the skills and give the students the opportunity to implement the skills in both the special class and the mainstream environment.
