About Us

The OE Lab is a student-run, staff-managed group that brings content and technological expertise to the timely creation of high quality OER that will be used directly in an Ontario Tech undergraduate course by Ontario Tech students. OER Lab staff have the opportunity to gain valuable project management, content development (e.g., writing, editing, media creation) and communication skills which can be implemented in their coursework and on the job.

Pranjal Soloni

I am a fourth year Software Engineering and Management student at Ontario Tech and currently, a Content Developer for the OER Lab. Being part of this team has been an amazing experience, and I am thrilled to be creating Open Educational resources which is both, easily accessible and affordable for students. It has not only made my technical background stronger, but helped me gain interpersonal skills, and think creatively.

Rebecca Maynard

I'm a fourth year Communication and Digital Media Studies student, and an aspiring librarian. Working in the OER Lab is a very valuable experience in terms of developing research, creative, and curation skills. Even more valuable, however, is the opportunity to help make higher education more accessible to everyone.

Ayman Abdulkadir

I am a third-year Mechatronics Engineering student at Ontario Tech. Working in the OER Lab team as a Content Developer has been an enriching experience in regards to creating interactive content, designing websites, and broadening my knowledge in various disciplines. What makes it an enriching experience is that you grow as a person and contribute to future post-secondary students by making open educational resources that are accessible and affordable.

Noopa Kuriakose

I am a third year Electrical Engineering student at Ontario Tech. As an OER Content Developer I get the opportunity to work with faculty members and peers from various fields of studies and is a great platform of continuous learning experiences. Working with the OER lab team for various projects has greatly helped me think creatively, apply my skills as well as gain valuable experiences. In this role, as a content creator, we create open educational resources that are well informative, economical, as well as easily accessible for students.

Sarah Stokes

I'm a Faculty Development Officer in the Teaching and Learning Centre. I'm excited to be supervising the OER Lab and leveraging my experience as an educational editor to serve our students. I'm passionate about open educational practices and am studying for my doctoral degree at the University of North Dakota, with a focus on OER and student collaboration.

Susan Forbes

Dr. Susan L. Forbes is the Manager of the Teaching and Learning Centre, and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
