Welcome to my site, I am "T" . I am the co-founder of Onset Engineering Inc. and Novalink Systems. We are on-demand contract manufacturing base in Irvine , California. We help engineers, researchers transfer technologies to market fast through our capability of utilize those most advance modern manufacturing technologies .
In 2022 and 2023, I had the privilege and honor of addressing audiences at UCI, where I shared my transformative journey from manufacturing engineering. During these speeches, I took pride in narrating my personal path and emphasized the significance of emotional discipline in navigating life's challenges. We find ourselves in an extraordinary era full of opportunities scattered everywhere. Yet, it's crucial to recognize that, at any given moment, we possess a specific foundation to confront change. Understanding psychology enables us to effectively manage these changes over our lifetime and optimize the opportunities that come our way.
While managing my business, I encountered numerous internal challenges. In the initial stages, operating without employees meant shouldering a significant portion of the workload alongside my business partner. As the team expanded, my responsibilities evolved to include not only overseeing operations but also mastering skills such as marketing, SEO, and Google Analytics, graphics designer, etc. This strategic shift became essential in attracting customers, ensuring a steady workflow to support the entire team.
The persistent challenge of running out of work and resources for the team triggered a heightened state of anxiety within me. My mind was consumed by narratives of fear, envisioning the potential loss of everything. Recognizing the detrimental impact of this mental state, I dedicated the entire year of 2022 to an in-depth study of various aspects of the human mind and brain. This exploration included delving into cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). In the transformative year of 2020, I navigated dual roles with remarkable outcomes. By day, I dedicated myself as a full-time manufacturing engineer, and by night, I collaborated with my business partner to build 3D printers. The venture gained traction, leading me to make the bold decision to transition into full-time entrepreneurship. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought unexpected challenges, necessitating my roles as an engineer, technician, accountant, and more.
Amidst these multifaceted responsibilities, I tirelessly sought grants and resources to navigate the financial complexities. Despite the initial hurdles, our 3D printing business weathered the storm, generating a substantial revenue of $1 million in its inaugural year. Through the Protolab platform, we distributed thousands of custom 3D printed parts to engineers nationwide, while also providing prototypes for emerging startups in the field of medical technology. This experience underscored my resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity, shaping my journey as a dedicated entrepreneur.
Become manufacturing engineer at Molex after UCI graduate with B.S in ME . As a Manufacturing Engineer, I hold several key responsibilities : developing and optimizing manufacturing processes, conducting research on materials, and writing comprehensive work instructions. Optimize of assembly lines through meticulous time studies, enhancing overall efficiency. Additionally, I also designed custom parts (Solidworks) for automation equipment, contributing to the advancement of manufacturing automation within the organization.
Nominated for JPLUS program, In 2016, I earned the distinction of being the sole nominee from Chaffey College for the prestigious JPLUS NASA program. This exceptional opportunity granted me exclusive access to the renowned Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) facility, where I engaged in enlightening discussions with scientists about the upcoming space missions. This immersive experience sparked my deep curiosity in space exploration, fostering a profound interest in the mysteries of the cosmos, including the captivating realm of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). As I continue to navigate my journey, the inspiration from this encounter fuels my passion for unraveling the secrets of the universe.
Recognizing that the USA held greater opportunities for my personal and professional growth, I took a significant leap in 2014, supported by both my mother and the universe. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in my journey. To support myself through college, I undertook multiple jobs, including roles as a Math and Physics tutor, as well as a Robotics educator. I embraced any employment opportunity that fit into my busy schedule, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a commitment to my educational pursuits.
In 2012, I achieved a remarkable milestone by being selected as one of only six candidates to participate in the prestigious Asian Science Camp, marking my first venture beyond the borders of Vietnam. This transformative experience not only broadened my horizons but also significantly shaped my worldview. Witnessing the power of scientific collaboration on an international scale inspired a realization that for a country to advance, a strong emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education is crucial.
Upon my return, fueled by this newfound perspective, I recognized the pivotal role of STEM education as the foundation for progress. This profound insight became a driving force behind my decision to pursue engineering studies when I embarked on my educational journey in the United States. Today, as I navigate the world of engineering, I carry with me the invaluable lessons and global perspective instilled during that pivotal experience at the Asian Science Camp.
Born here in Vietnam . a country that, post-war, exhibits a dual narrative—a resilient spirit for building a hopeful and constructive society, juxtaposed with individuals haunted by a past they find challenging to reconcile. Throughout my upbringing, my innate curiosity and fascination with nature remained constants. The rainy season, in particular, brought a heightened sense of joy.
The impact of the Vietnam War compelled half of my aunts and uncles on my mother's side to relocate to Canada and the USA, seeking refuge from the lingering hopelessness of their homeland. Influenced by the notion that pursuing happiness required embracing the democratic values of a new society, I embarked on a journey that transcended borders.
