3. Scheduling an in-person appointment: Applicants must attend a brief meeting at a TSA-approved enrollment center for identity verification and fingerprinting.

• During this appointment, applicants present identification documents and undergo a background check. Upon approval, travelers receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN), which they can add to future flight reservations to access TSA PreCheck benefits 

The non-refundable application fee for TSA PreCheck is $78, which covers a five-year membership period. Many airline credit cards offer reimbursement for this fee, making it more accessible for frequent travelers. 

TSA PreCheck membership lasts five years and can be renewed online from tsa.gov approximately six months before expiration. The renewal process is similar to the initial application but may require less documentation depending on your previous status
