Teacher Assessment

Question: Will the mock exams taken before Easter be used to decide my final grade?

Answer: This will vary from subject to subject and may be determined by length of the current lockdown. The subject specific information page will provide more guidance on this. If you are still unsure you should speak to your subject teacher. Subjects will place a significant weight to the work completed in the assessment window after Easter.


Question: How do I find out how each subject is going to assess my work?

Answer: Subjects will assess in different ways. Detailed information on this is published in the subject information sections of this website.


Question: Will I know what past paper I will be sitting before I take the assessment?

Answer: It is dependant on the exam board. There is the potential for the students studying AQA, OCR or Pearson to see previously unseen assessment materials before undertaking the assessment. More will be known about this after Easter. Other exams boards like CAIE will not release this information. This is the exam boards decision.


Question: Will there be any extra revision sessions?

Answer: You should speak to your specific teachers. There may be some on offer depending on the department. There will be lots of time in lessons to help get prepared for these assessments.


Question: Will I know exactly when all my assessments will be?

Answer: Many of the assessments will happen over a series of lessons that could last for weeks. The specific details are in the subject section of this website.

Exam Access Arrangements

Question: Will I get my normal exam access arrangements?

Answer: Yes. If you are unsure whether you are entitled to exam access arrangements like extra time speak to your tutor, Miss Arthur, Mr Slack or Mrs Edge in S4L.

Coursework

Question: If I've already completed coursework will it be counted?

Answer: Subjects that have coursework are allowed to use it across all exam boards. In some instances even incomplete pieces of coursework can be used.

Final Grades

Question: Will I know my grade after I take my assessments?

Answer: If you study a WJEC subject then you will be informed of your (provisional) final grade before it is sent to the board on 2nd July. All other exam board have suggested you will receive your final grade on your normal results day.


Question: Why would I need to appeal and what will an appeal look like?

Answer: You should not appeal simply because you are not happy with your grade. You should appeal to the school only if you believe there has been a mistake or malpractice has occurred.


Question : Will I be expected to be in school longer than normal?

Answer: Year 11 and Year 13 students will be in school, at least, until the assessment window has been closed. Further information about leaving dates and ROA ceremonies will be shared at a later date.
