Letters to the Sea

"Letters to the Sea" is a global initiative that collects and showcases heartfelt letters from young ocean enthusiasts worldwide.

Let's get 1.000.000 voices!, this is our goal for the next Ocean Decade Conference at Nice in 2025! 💌🌊

I want to write a letter! ✍️📝

We seek to inspire action and expand discussions on ocean conservation to encompass the perspectives and concerns of youth globally.

Are you 3 to 22 years old? Join us! and share your thoughts and feelings about your unique relationship with the ocean.

We will be reading your letters aloud at different conferences to share youth perspectives on marine conservation and sustainable practices.

Why write a letter to the sea?

Our oceans are going through a difficult time right now, and we believe that with your kind words and support, we can all come together and make a difference.

By participating, your letter may also be “adopted” so that you receive a response from one of the many leaders, scientists, and activists attending the conferences.

What can you write?

Follow your intuition and trust your creativity: write how you truly feel. This is your opportunity to share:

All languages and additional drawings are very welcome!

What should I include?

Don't forget to include in your letter the following:

Over 2.15 billion people live close to the coast. For these communities, the sea is central to their livelihoods, culture, emotions, and spirituality. It profoundly shapes their lives.

These letters provide a unique glimpse into the youth’s perspective, voicing their challenges, ambitions, and needs.

Want to become a partner? 🤝

We are seeking partnerships with local governments interested in championing our initiative on enhancing marine conservation globally and empowering youth voices in their respective cities or towns.

We are equally looking for leading institutions and NGOs that can provide financial support and assist in promoting our initiative.

Our initiative equally promotes ocean literacy by empowering communities and highlighting the diverse cultural, ecological, and economic aspects of coastal life, fostering a holistic understanding of ocean importance in global sustainability efforts.
