It is the mission of the OSSD Department of Transportation to provide our students with a safe, clean, and reliable method of transportation to and from school. While the majority of our students are transported to school by their parents/guardians, our district operates a small fleet of school buses to provide transportation to students who reside in the school district and for school-sponsored trips.

TDEC Grant for Propane Buses
TDEC Grant for Propane Buses
In May 2019, the Tennessee Department of Energy and Conservation announced that OSSD would receive a school bus replacement grant in the amount of $370,000 to purchase three propane fueled buses. These Class C buses are fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly, and equipped with the most up-to-date technology for safety. The board of education voted on May 7, 2020 to award the contract for purchase to Central States Bus (Blue Bird). The district received two 78 passenger school buses and one 42 passenger school bus in October 2020.
