Start Here Podcast: Indian Boarding Schools
3/31/22: Just for interest, although you can earn extra credit points by emailing me your thoughts after listening!
Here's a podcast that many of you may be interested in. Today's episode of ABC's "Start Here" is called "Grave Sins: America's Indian Boarding Schools." The first 12 minutes of this podcast is about the non-Native world in the U.S. and Canada finally realizing what was happening in boarding schools for 150 years.
In the episode, Deb Haaland--our nation's first Indigenous Secretary of the Interior (which has, as part of its job description, dealing with Reservations and tribal lands)--is heard from, and I'm attaching more information about her. She's awesome.
If you want to listen, go for it.
If you want to earn some points (English or Social Studies, your choice), you can email me (kolson@onamia.k12.mn.us) with your thoughts after you listen and look around the information about Deb Haaland.
Start Here Podcast: Scroll down to March 31, "Grave Sins: America's 'Indian' Boarding Schools".
The first 12 minutes of the podcast are about this topic.
