What is Socktober? an event during the month of October where students donate: Warm items, Toiletries, and of course...SOCKS! We give these to Homeless people around the area!
Our goal is 600 socks by the end of Socktober. Learn more on the goals page.
The student leadership group of EB Elementary does everything it can to benefit the community each month! We love to help those in need and help others do that as well! We hope that this website will make you want to participate in our Socktober event and "Rock the Socks!"
Why? There were 243 people homeless on January 28, 2015 and there were 276 people homeless on January 28, 2016. There is about 7.3% of the population is in poverty according to five year estimates by the American Community Survey. About 1,000 people find themselves homeless in La Crosse each year, according to CouleeCap estimates on January 25, 2013.
Have you ever been cold?
Have you ever been hungry?
Have you ever not have a place to sleep at night?
We are helping the La Crosse area homeless.
We will donate socks, toiletries, and warm items.
