Coaches

B.J. Christiansen

Head Coach, 2015-Present

B.J. had a successful swimming career competing for local clubs team MOST and GOAL. He attended Burke High School and brought home 7 career Nebraska State Championship medals for the Bulldogs.  After a couple years of swimming in college he retired from competitive swimming to further pursue his coaching career. 

His coaching career began as an assistant for Burke High school ('07-'08), Millard North High School ('10-'12) and Marian ('14-'15).  He also spent time as a club coach for GOAL ('08-'16).

In the fall of 2015, B.J. took over as Head Coach for Marian High School.  During his tenure, his teams have won seven Metro Conference Meet titles (2016-2022).  He was named Metro Conference Girls Coach of the Year in 2018.

At the Nebraska State Championship meet, his athletes have won 15 individual and 10 relay team State titles.  One athlete currently holds the State Record in the 100 breast.  B.J.'s teams have earned five State Runners-Up (2016-2019, 2022) and three State Championship titles (2020, 2021, 2023).  

The Nebraska Coaches Association named B.J. the Nebraska Swimming Coach of the Year for the 2020, 2021, and 2023.  In 2021, he was named a National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA) National Coach of the Year Finalist for Swimming & Diving. 

In 2021 he was named Girls Swimming Coach of the Year by the Nebraska High School Swim Coaches Association.

At the 2018 Metro Conference Meet, B.J. was inducted into the Metro Conference Hall of Fame for his contributions as a swimmer and coach.  

In May 2012, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and in May of 2017 he earned his Masters of Arts in Teaching at the College of St. Mary.  

B.J. is happily married to his wife Amie, who loves coming to meets to support her husband and the Crusaders!  They have an adorable dog named Lily and enjoy traveling in the offseason.  

Kevin Hansen

Diving Coach, 2021-Present

Kevin was Nebraska State diving champion and a member of the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association All American Diving in 1985. 

He dove on a full scholarship at Southwest Missouri State University in 1985 through 1987 and received the Mid-Continent Conference championship in 1985 and 1986.  

Afterwards he performed in diving shows throughout the State of Texas and several countries throughout Europe from 1988 through 1992. Kevin was the recipient of the Omaha Harry A. Burke High School Hall of Fame award in 2018.

As well as his duties with Marian Kevin is also the current district diving coach for Omaha Public High schools. 

Dannie Dilsaver

Assistant Coach, 2023-Present

Dannie swam for the University of California-Berkeley (CAL) and the University of Kansas (KU). At CAL, she was a 6x PAC-12 Championship Finalist and her team won two-consecutive runner-up finishes at the PAC-12 and NCAA Championships. At KU, she was a 10x BIG-12 Championship Medalist and her team earned three consecutive runner-up finishes at the BIG-12 Championships. Dannie was team captain, nominated for the Kansas Athletic Department ‘Best Jayhawk in a Supporting Role’ award, and twice awarded the Karen Dionne Most Inspirational Team Member Award.

Dannie is a Nebraska native and swam for Lincoln Southwest HS and Greater Nebraska Swim Team. As a Nebraska HS athlete, she was a 3x Scholastic All-American, 11x state champion, 4x state record breaker, Olympic Trials Qualifier, and multi-time U.S. Open and Junior National finalist. 

Currently, Dannie is working as a statistician at Creighton University School of Medicine and coaching with Greater Omaha Aquatics.

Lauren Barefoot

Strength Coach, 2020-Present

Lauren Barefoot is a certified strength and conditioning coach and exercise science professor in Omaha, Nebraska. Her coaching career spans over 16 years encompassing multiple sports and strength training. Although martial arts has been the primary focus in her own athletic career, her experience in strength and conditioning includes work in every men's and women's sanctioned sporting event.


Lauren also serves as Marian Wrestling Head Coach.  Girls wrestling is newer sport in Nebraska and has seen strong growth over. Coach Barefoot has built the team from the ground up. Under her guidance multiple Crusaders have qualified for state and earned medals.
