General Info
The Head of the Lake is a 3-mile course that starts in Lake Union at the College Club dock and ends near the UW Conibear Shellhouse.
Spectators at the start line will have great views of the Seattle skyline and the Space Needle. As racers follow the eastern shore of Lake Union and past the Pocock Rowing Center, fans can watch boats pass under the University Bridge and continue east through Portage Bay. Of course, there's no place like the Montlake Cut and the Montlake Bridge to watch historic Seattle rowing. Get a panoramic view from the southern point of the Washington Arboretum as rowers pass Fox Point, head east towards Lake Washington, and around a buoyed 3-point turn before finishing northwest towards Husky Stadium and the Conibear Shellhouse.
Best views of the race are from the University or Montlake Bridges, along the Montlake Cut, and the shores of the Washington Arboreum. Other viewing locations include:
Gasworks Park -- start line round-up
College Club -- start line
Ivar's on North Lake Union -- 1st turn through University Bridge
Cars can park in UW self pay Lots E-1 or E-18 on Montlake Boulevard and Walla Walla Road, just north of Conibear Boathouse. All cars need to enter the lots from the NORTH entrance. The South entrance will be closed. The cost should be $8.15 per day.
