Tyler DeVault, Director

Tyler DeVault serves as Director of Bands for Olympia Middle/High School. He is a recent graduate of Illinois State University, where is received a Bachelor of Music Education. While at ISU, he studied clarinet with Dr. David Gresham and Dr. Anne Dervin. He has played in the ISU Wind Symphony under Dr. Anthony Marinello III, and previously conducted by Dr. Joseph Manfredo. Other ensemble experiences include Dr. Glenn Block, ISU Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Martin Seggelke, ISU Symphonic Winds, Professor Gavin Smith, Big Red Marching Machine. Tyler student taught at Eureka Middle School and High School under Todd Stalterand Denise Quitschau. While at Eureka, he worked with fifth grade through high school band, including a competitive marching band and pep band.


While at ISU, Tyler served as the Director of Youth Music at Normal First United Methodist Church. He directed an intergenerational handbell ensemble, mixed instrumental ensemble, and youth choir. A lover of choral music, Tyler commissioned "Ubi Caritas Pastoralis", in 2019, by Craig Courtney, which premiered in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, Italy as part of the Italia Canta! Festival under Mr. Courtney's direction. As a native of Bloomington, Tyler attended Olympia High School in where he participated in the marching band and concert band under Kyle Brubaker and choir under Debbie Aurelius-Muir.
