Language Arts/Social Studies

Students in Mrs. Park's L. Arts class have been reading Non-fiction books this 3rd quarter. They have discovered that reading and testing on NF is quite a bit different from Fiction. Fourth Graders have done a very good job of stepping up and reading some challenging books as well as passing the quiz. Students are also working to meet "Goals for Word Count". Ask your child what their current word count is.

In Social Studies our project is and extension of L. Arts. Students spent 6 days collaborating to write a research paper on Illinois. They wrote it as a whole class and practiced taking notes from different websites to gather information on a notes page in Google Classroom, then they turned their notes in to a report on the state. Last week students began the process of writing a report on one of the 50 states. This time they will be working independently, using their Illinois paper as their model.
