Principal News

Dear Families and Friends of OLPS,

Dear Families and Friends,

What a busy couple of weeks it has been at OLPS. It has been wonderful welcoming parents back into classrooms, going on excursions, participating in cross country, celebrating First Eucharist, hosting working bees and election day bbq’s, even cleaning out the PFA sheds was a successful event to be a part of! It is clear how busy and excited we have been over the past two weeks and isn’t it great that we get to do these wonderful things as a community.

A very big thank you to our amazing PFA for supporting our community events and to the parents that could join us on our recent junior school excursion to CERES.

Well done to all our teachers and support staff for your presence and for all the coordination of our special events and extra-curricula activities.

Your gentle guidance, professionalism, and love of teaching, shines through every single day.

Although the term is quickly drawing to a close, there is still much to look forward to.

Please make sure you are keeping up to date with all the school events by going through the Important Dates tab.

The Weather!

Whilst we are enjoying some very crisp days in Melbourne at the moment, please be reassured that all classrooms and learning spaces are kept very warm and comfortable throughout each day. We keep all students in during playtimes or lunchtimes only if it is raining. During a typical wet day program, the students might be involved in games, creative activities, quiet time and possibly mixing with the class next door, always fully supervised. We feel incredibly lucky to have such fantastic warm classrooms and internal access to all our learning areas.

We are also currently experiencing an usually high number of school absences due to sickness (flu symptoms) and some COVID related illnesses. We urge all of you to continue to be vigilant regarding the monitoring of flu symptoms in your children. Thank you to all parents who are continuing to heed the advice to keep anyone home who is not well. Whilst this can be inconvenient and not what we were hoping for this year, it is so important that we continue to keep all in our community safe by making sensible decisions and not taking risks. The days of "it's just a sniffle" or "it's only a little cough" are behind us. Thank you also to all parents who are continuing to inform us and keep us in the loop regarding any sickness that is keeping our students at home. Please remember, if your child is a close contact, they must wear a mask indoors at school if they are in Year 3-6.

As we approach winter and flu season, the vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 and booster shots for students 16+ remains the best way to ensure protection for students and staff. If you have any concerns about getting your child vaccinated, please get in contact with your GP or another health professional who can answer your questions.

Semester Reports and Parent- Teacher Interviews.

On Wednesday 8th June the Student Semester One Reports will go live via the n Forma portal. Instructions on how to access the 'nForma' Parent Portal will be sent out to the email

addresses that have been previously supplied to the school. These emails will be sent out on

Wednesday, the 8th June.

Instructions on how to access the reports will be included in the email. An extra security

development will request all parents to create a new password each semester. You will be

given instructions on how to do this in the email.

It is very important that you have updated your email addresses with the school, as an

automated email containing instructions and login details will come from

noreply@nforma.com.au and not the school.

Please ensure that you check your junk/spam folder for an email from that address. It is

highly recommended that you use a computer to access your child’s reports for the first

time. Subsequent logins can be made on a mobile device if preferred. Once you have

followed the instructions, you will be able to view your child’s report online.

Parent/ Teacher Interviews/ Three - Way Conversation Year 5 /6) will take place on 15th and 16th June. Information about how to make a booking can be found below.

Student Illness

We urge all of you to continue to be vigilant regarding the monitoring of flu symptoms in

your children. Please do not send your child to school if they are presenting with any flu

symptoms at all.

As we approach winter and flu season, the vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 and booster

shots for students 16+ remains the best way to ensure protection for students and staff.

If you have any concerns about getting your child vaccinated, please get in contact with your

GP or another health professional who can answer your questions.

Thank you for your ongoing support in keeping our school safe.

Fit Families

Limber up mums and dads, registrations for Fit Families are now open!

Missed the introduction in our last newsletter? Fit Families is a group fitness program designed to support parents to achieve their health and wellbeing goals. It’s all about getting involved, connecting with the community and having fun raising a sweat.

Fit Families sessions are conveniently scheduled to coincide with school drop-off and pick-up, and are held within the safe and welcoming environment of the school grounds. Classes are 45-minute, circuit-based strength and cardio workouts led by qualified group fitness instructors, tailored for post-pregnancy bodies and designed for every participant to complete at their own pace. It’s not about being the strongest, fittest or fastest; it’s about taking some time out for your own wellbeing, whatever that means for you.

Registrations for Term 3 are now open! To learn more and to register:
